When Ronda Rousey made her return to WWE back at the 2022 Royal Rumble, fans were confused as to why Rousey was back being portrayed as a babyface, given she was a heel the last time we saw her on WWE TV at WrestleMania 35.
However, it appears as though that was not the original plan, and that Rousey was originally intended to be brought back to the company as a villain.
Rousey expected the fans to remember her heel antics upon her return to the company, but the positive reaction she received on the show completely flipped her presentation, turning her babyface.
Speaking to Daniel Cormier on the DC Check-In, Rousey explained:
“I was supposed to come back as a heel! Vince was like, ‘Well, they popped for her real big so she’s a babyface now. No, no, no, no, you need to smile, you need to stop being a b*tch.’ I love being a b*tch. It’s my outlet for bitchery. And they’re like, ‘Yeah, you got to pull back a little bit.’
Rousey is set to defend the SmackDown Women’s Championship against Natalya at this Saturday’s Money in the Bank event.
