About the Item
The non-Oscar version of the UK Quad Style C film poster - a key item for any serious Star Wars collector. This one is in incredible, very rare rolled condition. Superb colours. Honestly the best unrestored condition we have ever, and probably will ever, see for this poster.
From a collector who worked in advertising (at Saatchi & Saatchi) and was able to use their contacts to get some promotional material straight from the source. Hence the fantastic condition, most posters of this era were sent out folded to the cinemas so to get an unrestored rolled one is very special.
Designed by Tom Chantrell, who was tasked with enhancing the star appeal and the merchandising opportunities for Fox and George Lucas.
Star Wars was released in the UK ahead of the Oscar Awards, but as soon as these were announced, posters were printed with additional Oscar text. The early non-Oscar version was printed in only limited numbers, making this version significantly rarer than the Oscars version.
This original vintage movie poster is sized 30 x 40 inches. It will be sent rolled (unframed).

Tom Chantrell (1916 - 2001) arguably the greatest British film poster designer, certainly one of its most prolific, reputedly finishing some 800 designs. Born the son of a circus performer in Manchester, England, he started work in advertising as an illustrator.
