Paris Olympics Finds Groove With City Coming Back To Life As Opening Ceremony Lockdown Is Lifted & Sun Replaces Rain
Image
What a difference 24 hours makes.

After a washed-out opening ceremony and solid rain for most of Saturday, the Paris Olympics has finally gotten into its stride with blazing sunshine bringing out the best of the French capital.

At the same time a security cordon, putting much of central Paris off limits in the lead-up to Friday evening’s open-air opening ceremony on the River Seine, has been lifted over the last 48 hours, except for areas around Olympic venues.

Outside of the tournaments, one of the main attractions is the 30-meter-high Olympic cauldron, with a seven-meter diameter ring of fire.

Created by French designer Mathieu Lehanneur, it hangs from a golden balloon floating some 60 meters above the ground in the Tuilerie Gardens, between Place de la Concorde and The Louvre Museum.

Sunday saw sightseers flock to the gardens to catch site of the flame. It is possible to see the cauldron from afar,...

Kesha strongly condemned Republican vice presidential candidate Jd Vance for his remarks about “childless cat ladies” running the country, joining a growing number of celebrities speaking out against the politician’s controversial statements.

Vance, 39, faced renewed criticism this week after a 2021 Fox News interview resurfaced online. In the clip, the Hillbilly Elegy author questioned how politicians like Harris and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez could shape the Democratic Party’s future without having children of their own.

Katy Perry at an event for Katy Perry: Part of Me (2012)
Is ‘Woman’s World’ Katy Perry’s Worst Song?
Katy Perry at an event for Katy Perry: Part of Me (2012)
Katy Perry‘s “Woman’s World” has been thoroughly trashed online. Some even see it as the California Gurl‘s worst single. Is that true? And what makes it so much different from other female empowerment songs?

Katy Perry’s ‘Woman’s World’ takes an old approach that doesn’t seem to be working

Perry’s discography has some dud singles. “Ur So Gay,” “Swish Swish,” “Bon Appétit,” and “Rise” are all bad songs. At the very least, they have some musical flavor. “Woman’s World,” on the other hand, has a generic dance-pop beat that wouldn’t impress even the most die-hard clubbers. It feels like a lazy cop-out at a time when Perry needs to be writing some of her best work to get back in the spotlight.

Many feminist songs are breakup songs that double as empowerment anthems. In tracks like Gloria Gaynor’s “I Will Survive,” Kelly Clarkson’s “Since U Been Gone,...

Ariana Grande, Cynthia Erivo Channel ‘Wicked’ Characters at Olympics Opening Ceremony

Wicked stars Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo channeled their characters’ signature colors for the 2024 Paris Olympics Opening Ceremony red carpet.

Erivo, also in a 1950s-esque gown, dazzled in her character Elphaba’s signature emerald color. The Tony Award-winning actress, styled by THR Power Stylist Jason Bolden, wore a strapless dress with an angular skirt. Erivo added a dramatic flair to the outfit with a matching wide-brim hat. Many rushed to the vice president's defense after a resurfaced clip of Republican Jd Vance captured him bashing her for being "childless." Her stepdaughter, Ella Emhoff, couldn't disagree more with the U.S. senator's comments.

Kamala Harris' family aren't the only ones clapping back at Jd Vance, with actress Jennifer Aniston penning a powerful response to the catty remarks.

Ella's classy retort at Vance's comments came via her Instagram Stories. She shared a screenshot of a news report detailing her mother, Kerstin Emhoff's response to the "childless" remarks.

"These are baseless attacks. For over 10 years, since Cole and Ella were teenagers, Kamala has been a co-parent with Doug and 1. She is loving, nurturing, fiercely protective, and always present," Kerstin declared,...

Image
Hollywood heartthrob Chace Crawford may have displayed his outstanding acting chops in the cinematic field, but that isn’t the only thing he is absolutely baffling at. While Davidson is exceptionally famous for having dated some really high-profile ladies in the industry, Crawford seems to have quite literally surpassed even his record with his long list of ex-girlfriends. And, surprisingly enough, his long list of ex-lovers is also filled with female celebrities, just like Davidson’s!

Lady Gaga at an event for The 67th Primetime Emmy Awards (2015)
All Lady Gaga’s No. 1 Songs, Ranked Worst to Best
Lady Gaga at an event for The 67th Primetime Emmy Awards (2015)
Lady Gaga was one of the biggest stars of the late 2000s and early 2010s, so it’s no surprise she racked up a few No. 1 songs. Some of her biggest tracks didn’t manage to top the charts. Here’s a look at all five of her no. 1 singles, from the basic to the great.

5. ‘Born This Way’

“Born This Way” has a great message, encouraging the LGBTQ community, people of color, and people with disabilities to take pride in their identities. If only that message was delivered in a better musical package. The buzzing production of “Born This Way” is annoying, and it paved the way for Gaga’s overproduced flop Artpop.

“Born This Way” garnered controversy for its similarities to Madonna’s “Express Yourself.” That controversy will hang over both songs until the end of time, which makes it harder to appreciate them. “Born This Way” was No.

Gaga, a Grammy- and Oscar-winning performer, has been busy the past few years filming the upcoming Joker: Folie à Deux, where she plays Harley Quinn opposite Joaquin Phoenix’s Arthur Fleck/Joker,...

Chuck Berry
Britney Spears’ ‘If U Seek Amy’ Went Too Far
Chuck Berry
Britney Spears‘ “If U Seek Amy” might be the most obscene song of her whole career. While Spears had received flack since the release of “…Baby One More Time,” the 2009 release “If U Seek Amy” was one of the few times she actually went too far. While Spears didn’t deserve to lose her career over the song, it was a bad idea on multiple levels.

Britney Spears’ ‘If U Seek Amy’ was a middle-school sensation for all the wrong reasons

The phrase “If U Seek Amy” doesn’t mean anything. It doesn’t make sense in the context of the song. It only makes sense if you say it fast. The line is supposed to sound like Spears is spelling out “f*** me.” It’s the sort of naughty novelty song that goes over well in middle schools.

And that’s precisely why it was a bad idea in the first place.

Several politicians, including the Clintons and Elizabeth Warren, and those in Hollywood alike, including Shonda Rhimes and Damon Lindelof, also endorsed Harris.

“It has been the greatest honor of my life to serve as your President. And while it has been my intention to seek reelection, I believe it is in the best interest of my party and the country for me to stand down and to focus solely on fulfilling my duties as President for the remainder of my term,” Biden wrote.

In a follow-up message, Biden explicitly endorsed Harris to take his place at the top of the ticket. “Democrats...

How Prince Harry And Meghan Markle Ruined The Fairytale For Americans
Image
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s 2018 wedding was watched by millions around the world – even Ariana Grande made a joke about it at the time. It was an exciting moment for so many, who viewed them as Grace Kelly and Prince of Monaco for the new age.

However, they came with a lot of baggage and whining that simply turned people off their brand. An American royal commentator is now explaining how they lost their charm.

Prince Harry And Meghan Markle Turned Americans Off With Their Complaints

They did the Oprah tell-all, there was the Apple docuseries ‘The Me You Can’t See’ where Harry talked of being trapped and generational pain, there was the ‘Harry and Meghan’ Netflix docuseries, and if all that weren’t enough, there was the memoir ‘Spare.’

According to American writer Lee Cohen, all this and more helped to disillusion the Americans from the idea that...

2025 Oscar Predictions: Best Actress
Image
At the most recent Oscars, Emma Stone became the lucky 13th winner of two Best Actress awards when she picked up the prize for “Poor Things”; she had prevailed seven years earlier for “La La Land.” When she won back then Stone was 28 and joined the ranks of 31 other winners in their 20s. Another 35, including Stone the second time around, have been thirtysomething when they took to the stage to collect their Oscars.

Bracketing Stone’s two wins were women who defied this bias toward youth: 60-year-old Michelle Yeoh (“Everything Everywhere All at Once”); 45-year old Jessica Chastain (“The Eyes of Tammy Faye”); double champ Frances McDormand (who was 60 and 63 when she won for “Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri” and “Nomadland” respectively), 45-year-old Olivia Colman (“The Favourite”) and 50-year-old Renee Zellweger (“Judy”).
