The MCU has brought many fan-favorite Marvel characters to life, and in 2011, Captain America graced the big screen in Captain America: The First Avenger. Set in World War II, it depicted Steve Rogers' rise to stardom, and he was later unfrozen for a new era of crimefighting.

Captain America appears in each Avengers movies, as well as his own movie trilogy. In many ways, Cap is the ideal hero, both on the inside and outside, and he sets a high standard for the others. But even this symbol of peace has his drawbacks, and sometimes, viewers are reminded that he's very human after all. It's time to see his highs and lows side by side.

10 Strength: Courage

Every member of the Avengers (and even the Guardians of the Galaxy) is a brave fighter; that much is the bare minimum. But even then, Captain America has a great deal of courage, especially given how he doesn't have Asgardian powers or a spaceship backing him up.

Captain America is simply impossible to intimidate or discourage, and his will is nigh-unbreakable. Even before gaining the super-soldier serum, he was ready to face any challenger, such as when a bully attacked him in an alley.

9 Weakness: Awkward Moments

This is a minor issue, but it does take Cap down a peg or two. He is a confident and brave fellow, and friendly, too. But once in a while, he really trips over his words, and he doesn't always handle himself correctly around others. He's known to stumble.

He once derailed an important conversation by showing off the fact that he understood Nick Fury's The Wizard of Oz reference. He also sometimes struggles to comfort an upset or agitated person, or he makes awkward small talk that annoys others.

8 Strength: No One Left Behind

Captain America is one of those leaders who has the attitude "We're not leaving anyone behind." He had this perspective while fighting in the second world war, and he kept thinking this way while fighting Ultron, Loki, Thanos and other threats.

No one will be abandoned for the mission unless they volunteer to, and even then, Cap is reluctant to return home with anything less than a full squad. As a soldier, he does understand sacrifice, but he's the Avenger most likely to go back for an overwhelmed comrade. It's most admirable.

7 Weakness: No Major Ranged Attacks

It's true that Captain America can throw his shield like a Frisbee to damage his enemies from afar, and he's put that technique to good use. But it doesn't compare to Hawkeye's arrows, Thor's lightning or any of Iron Man's weapons.

Besides, throwing that shield is risky, since it might get stuck or lost. Captain America works best at melee range, which is fine, but in some situations, he's left with no solid options. Good thing he works as a team, or this weakness would really leave him vulnerable.

6 Strength: He Is Worthy

This was one of the most shocking thrills in The Avengers: Endgame. Thor was battling Thanos, and bit by bit, the mighty Thanos was gaining the upper hand. Not even Stormbreaker could defeat the Mad Titan. But then someone tossed Mjolnir onto the scene.

Captain America himself had thrown it, and at last, he was worthy of that weapon. He wielded both Mjolnir and his shield with great skill and daring against Thanos, buying everyone else enough time to assemble an army and take down Thanos for good.

5 Weakness: Not Knowing Tech

Anything built after 1945 is going to leave Captain America scratching his head. Over time, he learned how to use modern devices, such as that flash drive in Captain America: The Winter Soldier. But he had to learn things that everyone else takes for granted.

In The Avengers, Iron Man needed Captain America to assess a control panel and diagnose the problem, but the only thing Cap could say for sure was that the panel ran on electricity. Iron Man dryly noted that Cap was correct, but still, they were going nowhere fast.

4 Strength: Relationship With Peggy Carter

Over time, many of the Avengers find love, from Tony starting a family with Pepper Potts to Star Lord and Gamora becoming an item. Captain America wasn't left out; he had a good friend in Peggy during World War II, and he was fighting for everyone, but especially for her sake.

He was devastated when Peggy died of natural causes in Civil War, but in Endgame, he took his chance to zap himself back to his original time, where he and Peggy lived out their "happily ever after." No one was more satisfied at the movie's end than Captain America. His heart was healed at last, and he knew how to find eternal bliss.

3 Weakness: Looking Out For Rogue Bucky

Captain America's friendship to Bucky Barnes is also an asset, but for a time, it was more of a liability. Steve Rogers' old WWII friend Bucky Barnes was not dead; he had survived that fall from the train, and the Soviet Union claimed him as its own.

Now he is the Winter Soldier, and Captain America is torn between two sides. In fact, it was for Bucky's sake that Captain America defied Iron Man and caused the civil war. He made a lot of trouble for himself, making that decision.

2 Strength: Running A Team

Steve Rogers is a natural-born leader, and once he gained the super-soldier serum, he had the strength to act on it. In WWII, he was able to lead squads and platoons of soldiers, and during the battle for New York, he easily coordinated fighters and civilian support groups alike. No one else could have done that as easily or quickly as Cap did.

During the civil war, Captain America defied steep odds to find a solution to the Winter Soldier problem, and he managed to get himself and Bucky onto that jet despite Iron Man having superior firepower on his side.

1 Weakness: Petty Side

Fortunately, this side of Captain America doesn't come out often. But it is still there. Steve Rogers is still human, despite it all, and he can be petty or obnoxious like anyone else. He's not just awkward; sometimes, he gets right in people's faces.

He has a hard time getting along with Tony Stark, and while it's true that Tony is partly responsible for this, Steve could and should have done more to hammer out a proper friendship and alliance between them. His personality is quite different from Tony's, but that shouldn't have stopped him from reaching out a hand in friendship. During Infinity War, Steve and Tony were not on speaking terms, and that reflects badly on them both. Can't Captain America let bygones be bygones already?
