Zuckerberg vs Musk: Mark Zuckerberg tweets for the first time in 11 years to troll Twitter boss

Mark Zuckerberg is back on Twitter, and he's not here to make friends. The Meta CEO, who last tweeted in 2012, broke his silence on Thursday with a cheeky meme aimed at his rival Elon Musk, the owner of Twitter.

Zuckerberg posted a picture of two Spider-Man pointing at each other, implying that he and Musk are both trying to copy each other's ideas. The tweet had no caption, but the message was clear: Meta's new app Threads is a better version of Twitter.

Threads, which was launched on Wednesday by the Instagram team, is a text-based app that lets users share posts up to 500 characters long, as well as photos and videos. Unlike Twitter, which has been plagued by outages and controversies since Musk took over in October, Threads promises to be a "positive and creative space" for public conversations.

Users can log in with their Instagram accounts and connect with friends and creators they follow on the photo-sharing app. Meta said Threads is taking "what Instagram does best and expand that to text".

Zuckerberg also took a jab at Twitter's latest policy change, which limits the number of tweets users can view daily. Musk claimed this was a "temporary" measure to combat data scrapers and bots, but many users were outraged by the restriction.

"There should be a public conversations app with 1 billion-plus people on it," Zuckerberg wrote on Threads after its launch. "Twitter has had the opportunity to do this but hasn't nailed it. Hopefully we will."

Zuckerberg's tweet comes days after Musk challenged him to a cage fight, following a heated exchange over the future of virtual reality. Musk, who is known for his eccentric and provocative tweets, accused Zuckerberg of being "out of touch" with reality and said he would "smash" him in a fight. Zuckerberg reacted to the challenge by saying he accepted the challenge in an insta story.
