Design podcast cover for a new basketball show

The Hoops History Podcast is about the NBA and its history. Episodes will focus on a player, period of time, or significant event from the past and dive as deep as possible into that topic. The goal is for the listener to learn something new or remember something they may have forgotten during each and every episode. The target audience is simply basketball fans. It's a niche topic, and I expect the show to attract more hardcore basketball fans than casual ones initially, but ideally, over time the podcast will be for anyone that loves hoops!

I'd like a simple and clean cover that incorporates the colors gold and red (think History channel). I'd also like the letters to be all capitalized letters in a bold font. A basketball and/or basketball hoop needs to be incorporated somehow. An idea for the hoop could be a peach basket like the ones James Naismith holds in pictures. The cover should also include something that evokes history. I'm open to any ideas regarding what the history element is. My initial thought would be something like a textbook, but this can really be anything.

The attached image is something I quickly came up with using Canva. Feel free to deviate from this, it's just a starting point.
