While Wanda lies close to death, Spawn returns to the eighth level of Hell for a final showdown with a weakened Malebolgia. At the height of the conflict, Angela arrives to join in the battle. After mortally wounding Malebolgia and thinking him dead, Spawn and Angela prepare to escape; however, with his last breath, Malebolgia extracts Angela's lance and impales her with it. In a rage, Spawn decapitates Malebolgia with Angela's sword. Carrying Angela's lifeless body, Spawn delivers her to a host of angels who offer him forgiveness and redemption. He refuses this angelic pardon, but the angel who offers it can yet do one favor for Spawn: She appears in Wanda' hospital room and breathes new life into Wanda. Meanwhile, Spawn finally comes to terms with his place in the world.

Todd McFarlane is a Canadian comic book artist, writer, toy manufacturer/designer, and media entrepreneur who is best known as the creator of the epic occult fantasy series Spawn.

In the late 1980s and early 1990s, McFarlane became a comic book superstar due to his work on Marvel Comics' Spider-Man franchise. In 1992, he helped form Image Comics, pulling the occult anti-hero character Spawn from his high school portfolio and updating him for the 1990s. Spawn was one of America's most popular heroes in the 1990's and encouraged a trend in creator-owned comic book properties.

In recent years, McFarlane has illustrated comic books less often, focusing on entrepreneurial efforts, such as McFarlane Toys and Todd McFarlane Entertainment, a film and animation studio.

In September, 2006, it was announced that McFarlane will be the Art Director of the newly formed 38 Studios, formerly Green Monster Games, founded by Curt Schilling.

McFarlane used to be co-owner of National Hockey League's Edmonton Oilers but sold his shares to Daryl Katz. He's also a high-profile collector of history-making baseballs.

Spawn reaches 100 issues with a bang, ending main storyline started in #1 and with the death of a major character, but with Gaiman's being the rightful copyright owner of Angela that was expected.

A well made turning point story, closing for good almost all threads and leaving the series to new ones.

And this was last issue of Spawn I've read 18 years ago, my father had just passed away and I took a not long break from reading comic-books on those days, so it was an hell of a re-read I had this summer, what started as a bad copy of popular superheroes comics turned into a great urban fantasy horror series with some of the best authors/artists ever working on it.

And now I just wanna look for the other stories following this one, to see what I've missed all these years.

Sooner or later I'll do that.

In the insistence of Spawn to in some sense find the semblance of balance within the dichotomy of good and evil; spawn traverses worlds or scapes and meanders as though shogun, to unspeakable realms. Sacrificing angels and asuras to the great spirit to pay his tributaries as though an obol for passage through obliteration

Due to his actions, Spawn is offered a pardon from Heaven and entrance into their gates, but believing that Heaven is just as corrupt as Hell, Spawn declines. He then issues Heaven a warning - stay away from Earth.

This could have been a good ending to the series...
