Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 release date — latest BO6 news
Black Ops 6 is taking us back to a period of upheaval and turmoil.

Just like its Dark Aether zombies, we're shuffling ever closer to the Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 release date.
We're getting so close we can almost taste it.
Shaping up to be another bumper edition of the long-running first-person shooter franchise, BO6 will be on Game Pass, which follows on from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 receiving a similar treatment in July.
For those not subscribed to Xbox Game Pass, you can still get it via pre-ordering Black Ops 6, as has been done for Call of Duty for years now.
There's still time to get into the Black Ops 6 beta, too.

Hype overloading? That's fair. Read on to find out everything there is to know about the CoD BO6 release date, where to pre-order, and to find out the latest about its gameplay and story.
We've even thrown in a few trailers for you to watch and enjoy, because we're nice like that.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 release date confirmed

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 will be released on 25th October 2024. This news was confirmed at the Xbox Games Showcase held on 9th June 2024.
Based on the release date of previous titles in the franchise, many speculated that the game would arrive at the end of the year. However, it is slightly earlier than last year’s Modern Warfare 3, which launched in November.
Modern Warfare 3 went on to become the second best selling title of the year, beaten only by Hogwarts Legacy, which was released months earlier in February, and so if that is anything to go by, we predict the highly anticipated Black Ops 6 will perform equally well.
Can I pre-order Black Ops 6?
Yes, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is now available for pre-order.
BO6 is available to pre-order from your console or PC platform’s digital storefront. Alternatively, retailers such as GAME and Amazon also have pre-order pages live.
You can check out all the different editions on our Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 pre-order page.
But if you're in a rush, there are two different versions of the game to consider. Firstly, there is the standard edition which comes with the game, early access to the open beta and the Woods Operator Pack which costs £69.99.
For the more hardcore CoD fans, there is also the Vault Edition which includes all of the above, plus the Hunters vs Hunted Operator Pack, the Mastercraft Collection, BlackCell (1 season) and the GobbleGum Pack. As you’d expect, this comes at the higher price of £99.99.
Which consoles and platforms can play Call of Duty: Black Ops 6?

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is going to be launched on both current and last generation consoles.
That means it will be available on both PS5 and PS4, as well as Xbox Series X/S and the Xbox One. It will also be available on PC via Steam.
It has also been confirmed that any players who subscribe to Xbox Game Pass will also have access to the complete game on the day of its release, which represents a first for the franchise. This is not wholly unexpected considering Microsoft acquired CoD’s developer Activision in a high-profile case recently.
What are the Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 gameplay and story details?

After weeks of speculation, new gameplay and story details about Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 have finally emerged after the Xbox Games Showcase.
It has now been confirmed that CoD: BO6 will be set in the early 1990s during a period of “transition and upheaval in global politics”. The Cold War has ended, the Berlin Wall has fallen and the Soviet Union is disbanding which has left the US as a standalone superpower.
However, a shadowy force has infiltrated the US government which forces the player to go rogue and take on the organisation they have served for so long. Turmoil and distrust look set to be rife throughout the game as it capitalises on a sense of paranoia with murky characters and missions of espionage, rounded off with some heart-stopping action.
Series veteran Frank Woods returns in a new role for the CIA after his life-changing injury and works alongside Troy Marshall, a driven and tenacious soldier in the field. The story revolves around the pair and a series of new and familiar characters, including Russell Adler who previously appeared in Call of Duty Black Ops: Cold War.
There promises to be upgrades to gadgets and weapons, as well as a new safe house called the Manor which sits at the top of a granite cliff. As you’d expect with a CoD game, other locations you’ll visit look varied, ranging from a European casino to the Iraqi desert.

More information on BO6 multiplayer has also been revealed. There’s an exciting new mechanic called Omnimovement, which allows players to sprint, dive and slide in any direction and so we can expect online shootouts to become even quicker and more frenetic. On top of that, enemies also have a higher number of hit zones which means there is going to be more animations during gunplay.
The BO6 website has also confirmed that at launch, there’ll be a healthy total of 16 new maps, with 12 6v6 locations and four smaller ones for modes like Strike. Theatre Mode and Classic Prestige are also set to make a comeback.
But the updates don’t stop there, as we also received new intel on Zombies. Speculation was rife, but Round Based Zombies is returning, which will see players fight off waves of the undead with two new maps to play on called Terminus and Liberty Falls.
The mode will also continue the Dark Aether storyline that kicked off in the Cold War.
There's a Zombies Terminus Cinematic trailer that's well worth a watch, too. Check it out:
Black Ops 6 is shaping up to be a fine entry in the franchise.
Is there a Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 trailer?
