Not long after emerging victorious in the women's Money in the Bank ladder match, Liv Morgan cashed in the briefcase and defeated Ronda Rousey to become the new SmackDown Women's Champion at Saturday's pay-per-view.

Morgan opted to cash in her contract moments after Rousey got past Natalya to retain her title. It looked like The Baddest Woman on the Planet would quickly spoil the party by handing Morgan a loss via submission, but the latter got out of it and surprised Rousey with a roll-up pin to claim the title.

Morgan was interviewed by Ariel Helwani of BT Sport (h/t Fightful.com), after her career-changing victory. During the conversation, Morgan revealed the short and sweet message Rousey gave to her following the match win.

"She said, 'You deserve it,'" Morgan told Helwani.

This wasn't the first occasion where a superstar opted to cash in on the same day they won the briefcase. Dean Ambrose did it at Money in the Bank 2016 against Seth Rolllins to snag the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. Alexa Bliss did the same two years later against Rousey and Nia Jax (whom Bliss pinned) to become the Raw Women's Champion, and Bayley did it in 2019 against Charlotte Flair to claim the SmackDown Women's Championship.

Morgan also became just the third superstar to pin Rousey in the WWE. Becky Lynch first accomplished the feat in the main event of WrestleMania 35, and Charlotte Flair became the second at WrestleMania 38 three months ago. Rousey, however, would defeat Flair at WrestleMania Backlash to become the new champion.

A Rematch Is Reportedly In The Plans For SummerSlam

Dave Meltzer reported that the current plan is for Rousey and Morgan to square off in a rematch at SummerSlam. The show will run on July 30 at Nissan Stadium in Nashville, Tennessee. Per WWE tradition, Rousey is technically entitled to a rematch, and WWE doesn't have too much time here to build up a new feud for Morgan. WWE usually stacks up the SummerSlam event with star power, so it would make sense to include Rousey here.
