In the small English village of Midwich everybody and everything falls into a deep, mysterious sleep for several hours in the middle of the day. Some months later every woman capable of child-bearing is pregnant and the children that are born out of these pregnancies seem to grow very fast and they all have the same blond hair and strange, penetrating eyes that make people do things against their will.

A modern myth; UFOs.
This is the same story Dr. Carl G. Jung used as an example of alien invasion implications in his book "Flying saucers. A modern myth in our time" I did not know it had been made into a movie. Thank you for sharing your tastes with us.

Village kids - eeeek!
Came out the year I was born! I've seen it many times but just noticed there’s a cuckoo clock on the wall of the sitting room in GS’s house. Also I’m now wondering about the children’s eyes that appear through the flames of the closing sequence - an implication that they will live on? Mick

A Damned Good Movie
I know some may have asked why a distinguished actor like George Saunders would be in a "B" rated scifi/horror movie? The answer is that this is a "B" movie that would be rated "A" by today's standards. Excellent concept, well executed and intellectually subdued. This almost could be considered a screen adaptation of "Odd John" by Olaf Stapledon, much in the same vein as The Thing from Another world is an adaptation of "Who Goes There?" by John Campbell. This is one of the all time great scifi/horror movies. If you have never seen this you are in for a real treat.
