Fascinating piece of cultural history…
A daring film (for its time) in depicting an estranged African-American couple having relationships with White people. While the plot is rather melodramatic and 'of its time', the film is most interesting for the talent it showcases: not just the Robesons, but also the poet HD (acting under the stage-name 'Helga Doorn') and her long-term partner Annie Winifred 'Bryher' Ellerman (then married to Macpherson).
