There's no denying that 80s culture has become pervasive in movies, TV shows (hello Stranger Things), and especially gaming. (Hey, we're not complaining.)

If you were a kid during the time of video game arcades, then you may remember Tempest, the Atari game that revolutionized gaming in 1980 with its vector color display, starting level options, and varied level design.

If just reading those words has you feeling nostalgic — or like you missed out on something great — then this deal could be just the thing you need.

This mini scale-model Tempest arcade machine is on sale for just $99, or $20 off the original price of $119.99.

This Collector’s Edition machine was developed by New Wave Toys and is officially licensed by Atari. Not only is it kind of adorable (it’s just a foot tall), but it’s meticulously designed to play just like its full-sized predecessor. Meaning it’s got the same controls and interface as the original, only finger-sized — with a Mini Rotary Control and Mini Arcade Action buttons that play perfectly — plus it runs the original arcade ROM.

We've written about similar cabinet-style arcade games before when we've seem them on sale, but this is the first time we've been able to feature Tempest on sale in the Mashable Shop.

What you get is an authentic arcade gaming experience that will impress even the most devoted Tempest fans. And the folks at New Wave Toys went all in on the physical construction, too. The mini Tempest machine features a wood cabinet with illuminated marquee and cabinet accents, plus high-resolution cabinet art on vinyl overlays. You’ll even get mini arcade tokens to slip into the diecast metal coin door, just like with the real thing.

Still, don't let the vintage design fool you. There's a whole lot of cutting-edge tech powering the entire setup, ranging from the LED bulbs lighting up the machine frame's artwork to the three-watt amp calibrated for precise audio reproduction. The whole thing is powered by a built-in rechargeable Lithium-ion battery and recharges via USB, so what you're getting really is a high-powered modern machine steeped in a whole lot of throwback flair.

Word to the wise: This mini Tempest arcade machine is limited edition, and quantities are limited. So snag yours while you can.
