Why did they pay for the rights?
It is ironic in its own way the number of movies that end up being sued for having their plotline cross too far into another established story.
Especially when in this case the producers paid money in order to secure the rights to a specific story, and then made the courageous decision not to tell it.
If you are here hoping for an adaptation of Wodehouses novel, I suggest you keep looking, Damsel in Distress and Brother Alfred are while not perfect, certainly more faithful adaptations . Four Star PlayHouse's treatment of Uncle Fred Flits By is also enjoyable as is the BBCs version of Heavy Weather.
This film however has absolutely nothing to recommend it and I cannot stress enough that it has no resemblance to the novel that it shares a title with.
