BUTTE COUNTY, Calif. — The Paradise Police Department is gearing up for a re-launch of their dispatch center on Tuesday, August 8.
The center was devastated during the 2018 Camp Fire. However, since then, the department has been re-routing 911 calls to the Butte County Sheriff's Office (BCSO) while working on restoring their software, equipment and hiring staff.
The Paradise Dispatch Center opened on Monday, July 17, but the department says they'll be closing again to work through more logistical issue until their soft opening on August 8.
The department said BCSO has agreed to continue to cover Paradise dispatch services on times and days they don't have enough staffing, while they continue to train and hire more staff.
Lieutenant Anthony Borgman said, "August 8th, the plan should be bug-free and working again. New furniture, equipment. After the fire we lost all capabilities, radio, network, so we want to show this off and show you what we do."
The department announced on their Facebook page a thank you to this who worked toward making this dispatch center restoration possible.
"A special thank you to Paradise Police Chief Eric Reinbold, Lt. Cameron Kovacs, and Lieutenant Tony Borgman for their years-long efforts to make the restoration of Dispatch after the Camp Fire a reality. This effort would not be possible without Town IT Director Luis Marquez, who worked tirelessly to move the project forward."
The department is currently hiring and you can find more information on their webpage here.
