Independence Day: Resurgence is available on digital release today (on 4K Ultra HD Disc, 3D Blu-ray, Blu-ray and DVD October 18), and to celebrate the occasion, GQ has an exclusive clip of the man every boyfriend in America secretly fears—Jeff Goldblum—discussing the backstory of his character from the franchise, David Levinson.
Tales from an afternoon on the set of Independence Day 2 with one of the great lovable weirdos of our time.

Goldblum wasn't exactly a hunky action hero in the first ID flick, and was instead cast as the science-nerd type while Will Smith did all the cool shit. Though Goldblum isn't exactly running through sunny streets with an unbuttoned shirt in the ID sequel, his character is a bit more respected this time around.
Now, you may recall Goldblum revealing his character's backstory in GQ back in June, when he actually gave a very detailed explanation about how he approached Levinson:
Hmm. That differs slightly from what Goldblum says in our exclusive clip, in which he highlights Levinson's environmental side. Which story is true? Maybe not knowing is part of the magic.
