Sketch Comedy: The use of creative language.

Sketch comedy has become a popular genre within the film and entertainment industry there are a plethora of shows to choose from but some of the most popular are Brickleberry, Sesame Street, and Key And Peele. Sketch comedy is a series of short scenes commonly between one and ten minutes long which are performed by comedians, or comic actors through an audio or visual medium. Sketch comedy has become popular for many reasons a few are because it’s funny, gets to the point, it explores a topic, concept and or theory in a comical way but helps the viewers understand from a profound point of view.

For example, the show we once loved and still love Sesame Street when it comes to mind you don’t think of it as sketch comedy but it is for the children. When we think of sketch comedy you think more of your adult shows but sketch comedy can be in many forms. Sketch comedy is a comical skit that teaches you something and Sesame Street does just that from reading, writing, counting and even teaching kids mannerism. Since it’s Sesame Street the comedy takes a childlike form to entertain the kids and maintain a level of innocence. Although it may seem like they only teach them fundamentals it also teaches them life lessons and phrases that apply to life.
