Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Logo revealed in newspaper ad

The marketing campaign for the as of yet not officially revealed Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 seems to be ramping up. Yesterday, a new website went live, with an old school TV and footage of Mount Rushmore being blindfolded. Now, the Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 logo has been revealed in a newspaper ad, spotted by reddit user u/Deth3588, and shared on X by popular Call of Duty account ModernWarzone.

Previous rumours suggested that this years Call of Duty entry would be labelled “Gulf War” as a part of the Black Ops series per Insider Gaming. While that could still be a part of the full reveal ahead, the logo, featuring the Cerberus three-headed dog is also a big part of Microsoft’s upcoming June Showcase, merely labelled as [REDACTED]

According to Tom Henderson at Insider-Gaming, this new entry is open world:

“It won’t be the first time that the series has seen an open-world eqsue campaign though, as the first glimpse of what such a campaign could look like was first explored with Modern Warfare 3 and its ‘Open World Missions’. However, sources explained that unlike Modern Warfare 3, Gulf War’s campaign has been built from the ground up, rather than using assets from previous entries.

Currently, the game’s open world will see the player and their squad navigate the map more akin to that of Far Cry than anything we’ve seen before in the Call of Duty universe. Players will be able to utilize vehicles to get around, as well as using a fast travel system to get from one point to the next. Although the scope of how many linear missions there will be remains to be seen, sources confirmed that some linear missions will be integrated into the game.”

This is also the first time we can expect Call of Duty to arrive at launch on Xbox Game Pass – something that has been apparently subject to much debate internally at Microsoft. Earlier last week, the Wall Street Journal reported that this years Call of Duty game will launch directly on to the Xbox subscription, in addition to a normal retail release, including on PlayStation 5 and PC.

With only a few weeks to go until Microsoft’s big Xbox Games Showcase, expect more viral content to appear for all of us to speculate over. Are you looking forward to a new Call of Duty?
