Though Nutella and cheese may be an unexpected pairing, when melted together into a sandwich it's the ideal sweet-and-savory snack.

Ingredients

2 Tbsp. Nutella
4 slices white sandwich bread
1/2 cup shredded mild cheddar, Monterey Jack, or mozzarella cheese
2 Tbsp. unsalted butter, divided

Preparation

  1. Step 1

    Spread Nutella on 2 bread slices. Top with cheese, then close up sandwiches with 2 remaining bread slices.

    Step 2

    Heat 1 Tbsp. butter in a large skillet over medium until melted. Cook sandwiches, turning once and adding remaining 1 Tbsp. butter halfway through, until bread is golden brown and cheese is melted, 4–6 minutes.

  • In Italy is very forbitten eat mozzarella and Nutella togheter! Mozzarella with ham, bologna, salami, tomato dried or fresh, vegetables. Nutella is unforgettable whit mascarpone cheese!!

  • I used a sharp cheddar cheese, as I’m a big fan of salty and sweet. This recipe was really good. I didn’t know what to expect. I’ll make it agin. I made the mistake of putting Nutella on both sides of the bread. Don’t do that. Your cheese has nothing to stick to and just slides off.
