WWE star responds to Ronda Rousey’s claim he inappropriately touched her backstage

Ronda Rousey has not been pulling any punches when it comes to talking about her experiences in the WWE.

Ronda Rousey has been making the media rounds as she promotes a new book, and she has not been pulling any punches when it comes to her experiences with the WWE.

And that made headlines in a big way Wednesday because of what she had to say during an interview with NewsNation.

With Vince McMahon facing a list of horrible accusations, and out of the company, Rousey was asked if she ever personally experienced any misconduct. Turns out, she claims she had, but not with McMahon.

Rousey instead singled out WWE talent Drew Gulak.

“One time, I was waiting to go talk to Triple H in the writer’s room or something,” she said. “I was standing there with Bruce Prichard and another one of the writers, and God, I forgot his name.”

Rousey did eventually name Gulak.

“I was standing there, and this guy that I was barely an acquaintance with grabs the string of my sweatpants as I’m walking by,” she continued. “And I wasn’t even looking at him. I looked down the hall, and I was like, ‘I don’t know if I can swear on this. Are you gonna bleep me? It’s a quote, okay? But this guy grabs the string on my sweatpants, and nobody acts as if this is abnormal.”

Rousey said that Gulak started to go down the hall when she confronted him.

“I’m just like, ‘What the (expletive) was that?’” she said. “Why are you grabbing the string of my sweatpants? If my husband was standing here next to me, would you feel comfortable walking up to me and grabbing the string of my sweatpants? But nobody around me acted as if it was abnormal.”

Rousey said that everyone acting as if that was normal made her wonder “what’s happening to these other girls when it’s not in the hallway or something like that?”

“I went and confronted him later, and I was like, ‘If I ever hear about you putting your hands on any other woman like this or doing anything like this to me ever again, we’re gonna have, you know, I’m editing myself all the swear words out, but we’re gonna have a problem,” she said. “And he was like, ‘No, no, I’m glad that you said something to me,’” she continued. “He just really backpedaled and everything like that, but it just put a really sour taste in my mouth about the culture there and what’s considered acceptable and how to touch and treat the women in the hallways and anywhere but backstage, especially.”

Gulak took to X, formerly Twitter, on Wednesday to address Rousey’s claims.

“Backstage at a WWE event in 2022, I saw Ronda talking with a group in the hallway,” he wrote. “I stopped to say hi and shake all their hands, and in an attempt to shake her hand, I accidentally touched her drawstring. Complete accident, and one that I had apologized to her for the mishap.”

Gulak turned off comments on the post, but it wasn’t going over well with fans on the platform as many reshared the post and gave their thoughts on his response.
