The Duquesne basketball program is busy in Omaha, Nebraska preparing for its first NCAA Tournament game since 1977.
The Dukes will face the challenge of taking on No. 6 seed BYU (23-10) and the oddsmakers have installed Duquesne as 9.5-point underdogs.

While making preparations on the court, the Duquesne basketball staff is starting early preparations for next season.
On the first two days of the opening of the NCAA Transfer portal, per George Michalowski and the Portal Report, the Dukes staff have reached out to a few players in the portal.
Maximus Edwards– 6’5″, 215-pound sophomore guard from George Washington. Last season, Edwards averaged 12.4 points and 6.6 rebounds. As a freshman, Edwards averaged 10.5 points and 6.6 rebounds per game. Along with Duquesne, Edwards has also heard from Virginia, Providence, Seton Hall, Richmond, UMass, Nevada, Bowling Green, NC A&T, Sam Houston and UNCW.
Antwone Woolfolk– 6’9″, 250-pound forward from Rutgers. Last season, Woolfolk averaged 3.3 points and 3.1 rebounds in 27 games. The native of Lyndhurst, Ohio was a 3-star recruit coming out of high school. Along with Duquesne, Woolfolk has also heard from St. Bonaventure, Kent State, Eastern Michigan, Toledo, Ohio, Oakland, Georgia State, Miami Ohio, Northern Kentucky, Monmouth
Jailen Bedford– The 6’4″, 181-pound guard from Oral Roberts. Last season, Bedford averaged 14.6 points and 6.4 rebounds per game. Along with Duquesne, Bedford is receiving interest from New Mexico, Xavier, Nevada, New Mexico State, San Jose St., George Washington and UTEP.
Following the NCAA, Duquesne will be graduating a number of players including Dae Dae Grant, Jimmy Clark, Tre Williams, Dusan Mahorcic, Fousseyni Drame, Hassan Drame and Andrei Savrasov.

Meanwhile, how about those UVA metrics used by the “selection” committee….
Virginia lost 6 games by 19 points or more. Pitt beat them soundly on their home floor. The committee proved that look as computer numbers and did not watch a stitch of any of these teams playing.
