Jodie Lee
Considering that she was the most popular British female wrestler of the 80s and early 90s, there is surprisingly little useful information available about Jodie Lee. That is what we set out to correct through this article.
Hailing from Bury, Jodie Lee may well have been the most popular professional lady wrestler of the BWA (British Wrestling Association). Her feud with the legendary Lady Satan saw her win and lose many a bout to the delight of her numerous fans. Although she had an awesome physique, excellently suited for the requirements of professional wrestling, and in spite of the fact that her in-ring abilities were widely recognized in the sport, she was often pictured as a baby face who would lose matches to sometimes smaller opponents . Lady Satan, a true icon of the British professional wrestling scene of the time, said of Jodie Lee that she was the strongest and most capable wrestler she had ever faced in the ring.
Having had her ups and downs in the squared circle, Jodie Lee's professional wrestling career peaked in 1983 when she managed to defeat Terri Krueger for the BWA title.
As she got her hands on the championship belt, her popularity skyrocketed. She became a regular feature in several British professional wrestling magazines and she even had her own personal column in Fighting Girls Monthly for a while. Having eventually lost her BWA title, Jodie Lee never gave up on the sport. She continued to wrestle and she remained in the top 10 of the BWA's rankings, even though she never actually managed to recapture the belt.
Her professional wrestling career came under serious threat in the early 90s when a serious back injury forced her onto the sidelines indefinitely. Defeated again, but never beaten, Jodie Lee made a surprise return to the squared circle in 2004 when she took part in one of Pippa L’Vinn’s professional wrestling shows, taking on Pippa herself.
Needless to say, British wrestling fans in attendance were quite positively over thrilled with her appearance. Although she no longer wrestles full-time, Jodie Lee remains an active lady wrestler whose love for the sport runs much deeper than the physical limitations imposed upon her by time and injuries. Women-wrestling.org is it therefore proud to feature her in our Hall of Fame section, which would definitely not be a complete one without one of the greatest lady wrestlers Britain has ever produced.
