After giving us a swath of blokecore looks and leather coats, Dua Lipa is finally showing us how she does formalwear. Earlier this week, she attended a Barbie screening alongside Margot Robbie and Greta Gerwig in a look that was less Mermaid Barbie and more “Houdini”.
The musician wore a sheer maxi dress with chevron beading – barely obscuring a pair of high-waisted black briefs – with a floor-length black faux fur coat from Entire Studios draped over her shoulders. On the accessories front, she wore a pair of pointed-toe knee-highs, carried a shiny black patent leather clutch and opted for a single earring. Whether Dua lost the other or is simply pioneering a new trend for 2024 remains to be seen.
Though Dua is still defining the aesthetic around her new album, she’s proven that she loves an opulent jacket and a dress that shows a some skin.
