One of the many alternate realities in DC's Multiverse is currently being ravaged by a zombie plague born of the Anti-Life equation. Anyone who sees the equation or is bitten by someone infected instantly becomes infected themselves but retains the use of all their powers. This makes them significantly more dangerous than regular zombies and many of DC's most powerful heroes have already fallen to the zombie infection, such as Wonder Woman, Flash, Batman, and even Superman for a time. But it turns out, Lobo's healing factor protects him from Anti-Life, meaning he cannot be turned into one of the Anti-Living. This has led some aliens to hire Lobo to save the universe in a preview for DCeased: War of the Undead Gods #6 by Tom Taylor and Trevor Hairsine.
Lobo Takes His Biggest Job Ever
The Anti-Living plague has been one of the biggest threats anyone in the DC Multiverse has faced, as the virus is able to infect someone through either bite or more dangerously, through simply seeing the infected version of the equation. The virus has managed to even infect the internet and anything connected to it, which has led to more than 8 million people being instantly infected the second the virus landed on Earth. The virus is so dangerous that even Mr. Mxyzptlk is infected by an undead Darkseid and joins the Anti-Living army. This is why Lobo being immune is such a critical difference between him and almost everyone else in this universe.
While characters like Superman and Wonder Woman have the power to fight against the Anti-Life virus and the zombies infected by it, they didn't have the immunity that Lobo does. Given that Lobo also has the strength and speed of Superman, he can unleash a lot of damage without having to worry about being infected. This is a huge advantage that really no one else in the DCeased universe has. While there have been other characters immune to Darkseid's corrupted Anti-Life Equation, such as Deathstroke, they don't have the power necessary to fight the infected. Deathstroke couldn't be turned into a zombie, but he could be torn in half by an infected Wonder Woman; Lobo on the other hand, is much harder to kill.
Lobo Is The Universe's Only Hope Against The Undead
Lobo's strength, speed, and most importantly, his regeneration means he really is the perfect undead killing machine. He's strong and fast enough to go up against super-powered infected like Wonder Woman or Darkseid, and his regeneration prevents him from not only being infected by the virus to start with, but it also prevents him from being killed in other ways. While the DCeased universe may be facing its darkest threat, that's exactly why it needs DC Comics' darkest anti-hero, Lobo.
