Firefighters gain 100% containment on Pentz Fire, burning southeast of Chico

Firefighters have gained 100% containment on the Pentz Fire, which burned 40 acres off Durham Pentz Road, between Butte College and Highway 99.

According to Cal Fire, the fire ignited on Wednesday evening, July 24, southeast of Chico. They say the fire reached 40 acres before firefighters stopped its forward spread on Thursday morning.

Within a day, firefighters began increasing containment on the fire until reaching 100% containment by Thursday evening.

Cal Fire says the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
